HALLÉ EDUCATION

The Hallé's award-winning Education Programme reaches over 35,000 participants a year principally by placing Hallé musicians in the community, in schools, youth clubs, community centres and young offenders centres, where they compose and perform music alongside project participants.

SIR MARK ELDER AND A PROJECT PARTICIPANT CONDUCTING THE HALLÉ  PROJECT PARTICIPANTS PLAYING THE VIOLIN

The programme aims to create a wider enjoyment and understanding of music in all sectors of the community; to engage with those who do not traditionally come to the concert hall; to provide opportunities to participate in music and other creative art forms and to actively search out and connect with new audiences.

In order to achieve these aims, the programme is divided into five key areas:

  • CURRICULUM - Find out about various schools projects, including the Hallé's fantastic flagship project, Adopt-a-Player and opportunities for students, as well as INSET and resources for teachers.
  • INSTRUMENTAL SUPPORT - Promoting instrument playing with music services and individual schools.
  • ACCESS TO PERFORMANCES - Annual Hallé for Youth concerts at The Bridgewater Hall, Hallé Schools Roadshow concerts and Family Concerts and workshops.
  • SPECIALIST AREAS - In addition to projects and concerts in schools, the Hallé also works closely with other sections of the community. You can find in this section projects focusing on Early Years (children aged 0-4), Prisons, Gamelan, Special Needs, and Older People.
  • HALLÉ ENSEMBLES - Discover all about the Hallé Choir, Youth Orchestra, Youth Choir, Children's Choir and Harmony Youth Orchestra, and even get involved.

Also discover more about the North West Music Partnership and Sing Up.

'The children and I thoroughly enjoyed this project. It's great to have a company such as the Hallé working with young children. Please come again.'
