Farmer Duck

With grateful support from The Co-operative Membership Regional Values and Principles Committee, the Hallé is delighted to be delivering a new scheme of work with pre-school children based on the popular children’s book ‘Farmer Duck’ by Martin Waddell and Helen Oxenbury. With permission from Walker Books, the Hallé’s Education Director has composed a short cantata for string trio (violin, viola and ‘cello) and narrator. The new piece enables very young children to create their own drama based on the book, accompanied by musicians from the Orchestra.

The creative project involves Hallé musicians working with the children and their practitioners across a number of workshops, with the finished production in each setting being performed to parents.

The Farmer Duck project is being delivered in six nursery schools across the north west this academic year.
