The Charles Hallé Foundation (charity registration number 236149) was established by Sir John Barbirolli in 1965 to ensure the continuation of the Hallé's work by engaging the ongoing support of benefactors and donors and by holding a variety of fundraising events throughout the year.

Income from ticket sales and local and national funding alone are not sufficient to cover the costs of the Hallé's wide programme of education projects, the Hallé Youth Orchestra and Choirs, or innovative new artistic projects and international tours.

The Hallé has to raise almost £1 million in additional funds every year to be able to sustain and expand these new developments.
