Hallé for Youth
An annual series of four concerts for school audiences designed around a theme and specifically targeted at young people in key stages 2 and 3. Alongside the performances in The Bridgewater Hall, a team of Hallé musicians and other artists work with pupils from a selected group of schools to devise creative pieces based on set works that will be performed by the Hallé at the concerts. The young people have the opportunity to perform their work on the stage of The Bridgewater Hall to over 2000 young people (per concert) from the north-west region.

Coupled with this project, the Hallé's Education Director, Steve Pickett, delivers an INSET session for teachers at The Bridgewater Hall, where the creative music project will be presented for non-specialists as well as teachers with musical experience. Participants receive a teachers' resource pack for developing creative music in the classroom.

Details of the 2009 Hallé for Youth Concerts will be available soon.

For further information about Hallé for Youth Concerts, please contact the Hallé's Education Manager, Jacqui Dawber.

Hallé Roadshow Concerts

'It's so important for the future of music that sometimes, not just one or two individual musicians, but the whole Orchestra goes into a school and excites the kids with the sheer intensity of the sound of a full symphony Orchestra.'
Mark Elder

MARK ELDER AND THE HALLÉ AT A ROADSHOW CONCERT

The concerts involve the whole orchestra, with its Music Director Mark Elder, leaving its Manchester home and visiting schools in the community. Through concerts such as these, the Hallé aims to inspire and educate young people with first-hand experience of the power and beauty of one of the world's great symphony orchestras in their own school hall. The events are also an opportunity to encourage the students to take up instruments themselves. This hugely successful programme has so far taken the orchestra to Bolton, Oldham, Glossop, Salford and most recently to Longsight, both to high school and primary school audiences.

Hallé Family Concerts

The Hallé's Family Concerts are created specifically with young people and families in mind. Each concert is devised around a theme and is a mixture of fun, interactive and educational elements. A workshop involving music, drama and visual art is held in the Barbirolli Room prior to the concert.
