Background The Hallé is celebrating a great landmark in its history - its 150th anniversary.
Over the last 150 years, the Hallé has developed and grown, creating a legacy that continues to flourish and now extends beyond the orchestra and the Hallé Choir to our two Youth Ensembles and numerous education and community programmes in Greater Manchester and beyond.
The Hallé has been guided through its long history by many famous names - Hallé, Richter and Harty, Barbirolli and Skrowaczewski - to its present Music Director, Mark Elder, all of whom have contributed to the unique Hallé sound. The awards and accolades that have been bestowed on the Hallé in recent seasons are a tribute, not just to the hard work of the musicians and staff but also to the encouragement and assistance that all our supporters - Members, Patrons and Subscribers - give to the Society.
The Hallé is a registered charity, and a society which anyone can join. Hallé Members receive benefits and privileges in return for an annual fee.
By becoming a Hallé Member, and renewing exisiting Memberships, you are helping to ensure the continued success and development of this great organisation. Help the universal language of music to reach thousands who would not otherwise be able to hear our music.
