John Wilson conductor | Leon McCawley piano
John Wilson remains one of the Hallé's most popular and respected conductors, and we are delighted that he returns this year to open our annual Summer Promenade Concerts. In the first of two appearances, John presents a Classical Extravaganza, featuring some of the Hallé's most requested music. He will be joined on stage by the prize-winning British pianist Leon McCawley, who promises to dazzle us with Rachmaninov's exciting variations. The concert reaches its climax with a rarely heard special treat, Bach's dramatic Toccata and Fugue, beloved of cathedral organists the world over, in Stokowski's magnificent arrangement for full orchestra.
