Rodgers and Hammerstein represent the shining summit of the golden age of the musical. Each show was a massive success, on both the stage and the big screen. Tonight, the full orchestral forces of the Hallé and two exceptional singers will perform the best-known songs from these giants of musical entertainment, together with their stirring themes, brought vividly to life by an orchestra which, according to The Sunday Times, 'should make Manchester glow with pride'. Unmissable.
