Sunday 6 December 2008, 7.30pm - The Four Seasons

Handel Arrival of the Queen of Sheba
Pachelbel Canon
Bach Suite No.3: Overture, Air, Bourrée
Albinoni Adagio for Strings and Organ
Corelli Christmas Concerto
Vivaldi The Four Seasons

Lyn Fletcher director/violin

The Manchester audience rarely has the chance to hear the Hallé perform these early favourites. The orchestra's Leader, Lyn Fletcher, will both direct the concert and feature as violinist, alongside other distinguished Hallé soloists. This is the perfect concert to enjoy before the raucous festive season gets fully underway, a moment of peace to savour before the parties get started. That isn't to say the evening doesn't have excitement as well as great beauty - the Queen of Sheba's pacy entrance sees to that - while no-one can deny the spectacular, dramatic virtuosity of Vivaldi's great masterpiece.
