Staff from Jacobs join Team Hallé for the Manchester 10K

13th May 2016

The runners in Team Hallé are now into their final couple of weeks of training before the big day. As usual there will be several musicians from the Hallé orchestra along with members of the administration team, running along with a few supportive family members, but for the first year this year, Team Hallé will also include runners from Hallé partners Jacobs.

The team of runners from Jacobs – the global science, technology and engineering company – are newly formed and include some who will be running the 10k for the very first time. The runners are from some of the different disciplines within Jacobs’ First Street Manchester office including Highways, Rail and Environment and they wanted to use the race as a way of both raising money and encouraging staff to think about their health and fitness.

Jacobs are Education sponsors of the Hallé and last year supported the Hallé’s Come and Play programme. This projects gives 20,000 children the opportunity to play their instrument alongside the Hallé in the renowned Bridgewater Hall.

Team Hallé are running to raise money for The Charles Hallé Foundation, which supports the Hallé’s youth, education and outreach work, enabling it to reach 250,000 people each year and create opportunities for children and young people to hear the sound of an instrument or full orchestra for the very first time. These musical experiences can be life changing and something which we want to keep delivering for as long as possible.
