Vaughan Williams: A Sea Symphony CD selected for Gramophone Magazine Classical Music Awards Shortlist

3rd August 2016

We are delighted to announce that we have been selected for the 2016 Gramophone Magazine Classical Music Awards Shortlist in their orchestral section, for our recording of Vaughan Williams: A Sea Symphony.

Our highly acclaimed CD was released on 4 September 2015 and described by Gramophone Magazine as ‘a majestic performance, brimful of lofty spectacle, abundant temperament and stunning accomplishment.’ As well as the orchestra, conducted by Sir Mark Elder, it features both the Hallé Choir and Hallé Youth choir with Schola Cantorum, Ad Solem and soloists Katherine Broderick and Roderick Williams. It was originally recorded at The Bridgewater Hall on 29 March 2014, in a concert that The Guardian declared to be ‘an outstanding performance, among the finest ever of A Sea Symphony’.

The full shortlist can be found on Gramophone Magazine’s website.
