Meet-a-Musician is a scaled-down version of Hallé Education’s flagship programme, Adopt-a-Player, involving a single workshop with the option to also attend a Hallé concert. The programme is designed for primary school pupils in Key Stage 2 and is available to schools in Greater Manchester and across the north-west.
The project is designed for a class of 30 pupils and involves a visit from a Hallé player, who will demonstrate their instrument, tell the pupils about life as a professional musician, as well help the class compose a short creative piece based on a piece of music from the orchestral repertoire. The class is also offered the opportunity to visit The Bridgewater Hall where they will hear the stimulus piece and other works in a weekday matinee concert performed by the Hallé. For many children this will be their first experience of attending an orchestral concert in one of the UK’s finest music venues.
Previous projects have taken place as far as Nottingham and Stoke, focusing on Rossini’s Overture to William Tell, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Dvorák’s Slavonic Dances.
Meet-a-Musician workshops start from £120 + VAT. For prices including the accompanying concert visit please contact the education team.
