Hallé Choral Academy

Following on from the success of our Poulenc project in February, we are delighted to be exploring Mozart’s Requiem in May and June 2024.

We will be exploring one of the most iconic works in the choral repertoire, Mozart’s Requiem, in all its sublime beauty and dramatic intensity. Apart from being a great sing it’s the perfect choral work to help improve your score reading and vocal production!

Sessions will start with a workshop day 10am-3pm on Saturday 18 May 2024

Thereafter three Monday evenings, all 7-9pm:

• 18 May 2024
• 20 May 2024
• 3 June 2024
• 10 June 2024 – which will also include an informal ‘performance’ for friends and family at 8.30pm

Sessions will take place in the inspiring surroundings of Hallé St Peter’s, led by Choral Academy Director, Joseph Judge.

Tickets for the entire project cost £60 including VAT and Eventbrite charges, and include all sessions, sheet music copies and the informal performance for family and friends.

Support is available for those on low incomes, and we welcome anyone with special access requirements.

The Hallé Choral Academy offers stand-alone, repertoire-led choral training projects that will introduce you to some inspiring choral repertoire, develop your singing skills, and increase your confidence in both singing and music-reading.

Our first project this season will explore a selection of choruses from Handel’s Messiah.

How do I register?

Follow the booking link to our Eventbrite webpage and purchase one e-ticket at £60 per person for the entire Messiah project. Then just turn up on the day!

Do I need to have sung in a choir before?

No prior experience is required – come along and join the fun!

Do I need to be able to read sheet music?

No prior experience is required, but please be aware that we will be working from sheet music in the sessions – with as much support as necessary for you to join in.

Do I need to audition?

There is no audition, the Hallé Choral Academy is open to all aged 18+.

What should I bring to the sessions?

Just bring yourself, a pencil and a bottle of water. Refreshments will be available to purchase on the day or you are welcome to bring your own.
