Important news from the Hallé: 19 March 2020, 2pm

19th March 2020

Given the coronavirus pandemic, the risks to public health and Government guidance, I am announcing today that the Hallé will not be giving any public concerts until, at the earliest, the one planned for the 18th April 2020. We will keep this decision under review as information about COVID-19 changes.

The Hallé’s venues in Ancoats, Hallé St Peter’s (including the Oglesby Centre) and St Michael’s will close to the public with immediate effect, also until the 18th in the first instance.

As the situation changes we will be making further announcements on our website and through social media, and by contacting directly those who have bought tickets for concerts, or are involved in Hallé Ensemble or Education activities through HALLÉ CONNECT.

The Hallé is a charity and, with many others, will be severely affected by the crisis. The Hallé’s public are the reason we exist. The loyalty and support you have shown and continue to show is an inspiration to our players and staff and lifts us all in times like these. In common with many of our colleagues around the country who, like us, have been forced to cancel concerts and events, we are asking you to consider supporting us at this very difficult time, by donating the cost of your tickets during this period instead of requesting a refund. If it is at all possible for you to consider this, we would be very grateful for your generosity. You can find out more about ways to support the Hallé here.

We look forward to welcoming you all back to the Hallé as soon as it is possible to do so. Please keep an eye on our website, where we will post information and videos of Hallé activity and personalities to remind all of us of the joy that music brings to people’s lives.
