We now have a brand new concert in the 2017-18 season – 6 O’Clock Classics on Thursday 8 March 2018 at 6pm. The new event will take place at The Bridgewater Hall and offers everyone the chance to avoid the rush hour traffic and overcrowded trams and trains and join us for an hour of wonderful music instead.
The concert, conducted by Johann Stuckenbruck, will last around an hour and the programme includes:
Verdi Overture: The Force of Destiny
Debussy Clair de Lune
Copland Fanfare for the Common Man
Tchaikovsky ‘Pas de Deux’ from The Nutcracker
Beethoven Finale from Symphony No. 7
Our Chief Executive John Summers said: “We want to make the rush hour disappear and give people the chance to try something new. The Hallé will perform a great selection of music, much of which people will recognise even if some of the titles are unfamiliar. Just for an hour people can lose themselves in wonderful music and let the rush hour pass them by.”
The concert will feature a big screen on which members of the orchestra will introduce the music being performed.
