Toward the Unknown Region – RVW150

THE HALLÉ AND BBC PHILHARMONIC CELEBRATE THE 150th ANNIVERSARY OF RALPH VAUGHAN WILLIAMS’ BIRTH WITH A COMPLETE SYMPHONIC CYCLE

To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of England’s greatest composers, the Hallé and the BBC Philharmonic are joining forces once again to offer a unique Mancunian tribute.

Building upon their acclaimed collaborations, these two orchestras combine once again to present a complete cycle of Vaughan Williams’ symphonies and showcase the extraordinary symphonic achievement of this musical visionary. Each work has its own character and style, often including some highly innovative features, but each is marked by an originality, a distinctiveness, that separates them from anything written before or since.

This is a unique and rare opportunity to experience all nine symphonies in such a short period – a musical journey and an experience not to be missed.
